SOLD: Thanks to everyone who purchased trees! I hope you enjoy them. The remaining trees I was able to move to Columbus safe and sound!
As mentioned in my farewell letter, in a few weeks I am officially moving away from Seattle. Therefore, I need your help to make my move a little easier by liquidating the bonsai collection I've collected over the past few years. While I will keep a few favorites with me for the cross-country drive, unfortunately, I cannot fit them all! I have a large diversity of seedlings in development, as well as some raw material and a few styled trees. If you're interested in making an appointment to visit my garden in person with a mask, please use the contact form here.
Notes:
- My price estimates are based on species, age, hands-on training time, and my own perception of the quality of the material. Obviously, this is subjective so I am very open to negotiation and bulk discounts.
- I am not currently looking to ship and would prefer to do local drop off and pick up for the safety and security of the trees and to save my own time.
- If you're interested in an unstyled tree or want me to do some maintenance for you before you take home your purchase, feel free to ask (some additional payment may be requested depending on how labor-intensive the task).
A. $1-5
B. $6-25
C. $26-99
D. $100+
Items are organized mostly with seedlings at the top and bigger items at the bottom. More items may be added after Monday. I will post here on my social media if I do so you all can stay up to date.
Indoor / Tropical Trees
These trees can be grown indoors year-round if desired. They will all slowly grow next to a window, but would prefer to have grow lights, if possible, and would really do best if placed outdoors in the warm sun every summer - indoor trees do come from tropical places after all!
Indoor/tropical species available include money tree, ficus, lemon, Hawaiian Umbrella tree, dwarf jade, & bougainvillea.
$1-5
Trees in this price range are all very young.

Trees in this price range are closer to mature bonsai.
$100 +
Trees in this price range already have the trunks to be show-worthy bonsai. My next steps for these would be to trim them to the style you desire (or I can do it for you if you like)! As above, these are also primed to be repotted at this time of year if you have another pot you prefer. Since these specimens are more robust and older than the first two categories, fertilizer may be applied immediately once in their new growing homes.
 |
Bougainvillea stump. This yardadori bougainvillea was sourced from bushes that the Huntington gardens, CA when they were removing part of their landscaping. I do NOT recommend owning this tree if you do not have grow lights for winter. Bougainvilleas need lots of light and heat. This plant has orange flowers!
|
Species common name: BougainvilleaSpecies Latin name: Bougainvillea spAge: 35+ yearsSuggested price: $200Suggested next step(s): Fertilize, repot, carve stumps (I have done this since taking the photo).I have been allowing the branches on this tree to thicken relative to the trunk so the image will eventually be more proportionate.
Outdoor / Temperate Trees
These trees are all from environments like Seattle! That means they need winter dormancy to survive long term, and therefore must be grown outdoors year-round, except for brief periods for which they can be displayed (a few days at a time). Most of these love the Seattle rain in the winter, but they need you to water for them to survive in summer. Frankly, outdoor trees are easier to keep healthy than indoor ones if you can remember to check on them.
Outdoor/temperate species include Japanese gardenia, Japanese larch, American larch, Japanese black pine, Japanese red pine, coast redwood, dawn redwood, western red cedar, Douglas fir, shimpaku juniper, boxwood, ginkgo, purple thunderbird plum, Japanese snowbell, olive, big leaf maple, horse chestnut, Oregon ash, black mondo grass, salal, bog laurel, hawthorn, European beech, rose, Juniperus procumbens nana, Kuko's boxthorn, hinoki cypress, cork bark Chinese elm, honeysuckle, Chinese juniper, crabapple, western white pine, Sierra lodgepole pine, privet, laurel (not mountain laurel, something else), and wisteria.
